The beginning

To understand why woodworking is now a big part of my thoughts and my life I have to back to the summer of 1996.
Aged 16, with no money to buy a nice gift to my older brother, I decided to build something for him. Not only the gesture would make the gift more unique, but for sure being crafted by his younger brother any flaws or mistakes would vanish.

Having a good collection of fountains pens, I decided that my brother should get a box to display one of his special pens. That was decided fairly quickly and even faster was the decision to make it out of wood. What followed was not the smartest decision but one that proved to be the reason why I’m writing this today and why woodworking is my passion.

Any inexperienced 16 year old trying to build a box would most likely start with a ride to the nearest Home Depot, Leroy Merlin - or whatever local store is around- to buy milled wood and embark in a project with fairly high chances of success. Well, not this 16 year old guy…..
